History of Govt. ITI Sainik Parivar Bhavan Panchkula
After the 1971 Indo-Pak war, a War Widow Home was established at Chhachhrauli near Yamunanagar to support the War Widows and their dependents in imparting vocational training so as to enable their graceful survival with training provided in Hosiery, Cut-Glass work, Handloom, Knitting, Cutting & Tailoring. Later this facility was extended to the dependents of Ex-Servicemen and serving Army personnel including wards of personnel employed in para-military forces belonging to the State of Haryana.
This scheme is primarily an initiative of the Government of Haryana through Defence & Security Relief (DSR) Fund and Hon’ble Chief Minister is the Chairperson of the DSR Fund. This War Widow Home was subsequently converted into Sainik Parivar Bhavan (SPB) in 1986 and it was initially registered as Society in the year 1999 under Society Registration Act, 1860 and later re-registered under the Haryana Registration and Regulation of the Societies Act, 2012.
On appraisal of this scheme, the Industrial Training Centres (ITCs) of 'Sainik Parivar Bhavans' (SPBs) were opened in Panchkula. Keeping pace with the socio-economic scenario, fresh courses such as Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) approved by the Director General Employment & Training (DGE&T) under the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) scheme were introduced in the SPB ITCs. SPB is governed by its Service (Common Cadre) Rules, 1999 approved by its Management Committee and Registrar of Societies.
